Overview
As the Full Charge Bookkeeper, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial health of the organization. This position is responsible for managing all financial transactions and maintaining accurate records for our company. The Bookkeeper will play a vital role in maintaining financial excellence while staying in alignment with our organization's core values, ensuring that integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct guide our financial practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting/Budget:
· Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
· Provide accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and budget comparisons.
· Participate in the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
· Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and make recommendations for corrective actions.
· Manage cash flow, including optimizing working capital and liquidity.
· Oversee cash disbursements and collections to ensure efficient cash management.
Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable:
· Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
· Reconcile bank and credit card statements
· Prepare and file quarterly sales tax returns
· Manage relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and other external partners.
Payroll and Workforce Management:
· Manage payroll and employee benefits, including processing payroll, tracking vacation and sick time, and administering the health supplement plan
· Coordinate compensation and benefits plans, including healthcare membership program
· Maintain and update the employee handbook to reflect current policies and procedures
· Organize and manage HR-related documents and employee records
Audit Management:
· Manage audits by external auditors and regulatory agencies.
· Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial laws, including GAAP.
· Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and maintain data integrity.
· Continuously assess and enhance financial processes and systems for efficiency and effectiveness.
· Implement best practices and automation to streamline financial operations
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (preferred)
- 2+ years of bookkeeping experience (required)
- Familiarity with accounting software/financial management systems (e.g. QuickBooks)
- Strong understanding of financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements
- Experience in managing payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Experience in working with financial statements and budgets
- High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of financial data
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others
- Strong organizational and project management abilities; ability to multi-task; time-management is key
- Ability to work in a diverse, fast-changing environment and the ability to be flexible, resourceful and maintain a positive attitude in the face of challenging circumstances

- Employee may be required to work some weekends and some holidays.
- Shelter work requires flexibility and the willingness to work outside ones scope, including areas to which you are not assigned, when the need arises.
