PRIMARY FUNCTION: Site Directors are responsible for utilizing organizational resources to provide a safe environment, deliver programs, services, and activities for Club members that are consistent with the organization’s youth development mission and goals.
The role of the Roosevelt Site Director is to implement organizational policies and practices to develop positive relationships with members, families, staff, partners, and supporters.
BGCOP will be running Club activities and programs at Roosevelt Elementary School during the school year. Staff working at this site will work at the Turner Unit during school breaks.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Leadership
Ensure the effective operation and delivery of programs within the BGCOP and community.
- Support the organization's mission, principles, and core values.
- Maintain a safe environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.
- Implement programs, services, and activities that support youth development outcomes.
· Establish and monitor adherence to policies and procedures.
· Plan and manage overall Club programs and operations.
· Provide supervision, direction, and leadership to all Site staff.
· Maintain the facility to keep it safe, clean, and attractive.
· Create a conducive environment for youth development.
· Recruit, select, develop, train, and evaluate all Site staff.
· Represent the Club in the community.
· Adhere to the Board approved budget.
· Maintain accurate financial records and data collection for grant support and BGCA reporting.
Resource Development
Assist and collaborate with BGCOP’s Resource Development efforts.
· Provide help and support to staff and volunteers performing Resource Development functions.
· Increase visibility of Club programs, services, and activities.
· Maintain good public relations through internal/external communications.
Resource Management
- Maintain a safe Club environment as per BGCOP and BGCA safety guidelines.
- Complete BGCA Safety Assessment annually and address deficiencies.
- Repair/replace broken or damaged equipment.
- Assist in monitoring the Club's annual budget.
- Ensure productive and effective staff performance; provide guidance, feedback, and opportunities for professional development.
- Maintain vehicles including safety inspections and routine servicing.
Partnership Development
- Develop strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials. Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations, businesses, parents, school district, funders, and community organizations.
- Collaborate with other Boys & Girls Clubs.
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel.
- External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Site Director may be assigned special projects by the Chief Executive Officer or Area Director.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Must have a minimum of 12 college credits (100 level classes or above).
- Experience in managing programs or operations in a non-profit agency or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Thorough knowledge of the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs and the principles and practices of managing non-profit organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement effective operations and programs.
- Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, community groups, and other related agencies.
- Basic management skills including finances, human resources, and strategic planning.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office and indoor environment. May require occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs., and may require extended periods of time in a standing position. May require travel.
