Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, fiduciary and partnerships ensuring accuracy and compliance with current tax laws and regulations
- Conduct detailed tax research to interpret evolving tax laws, ensuring the organization maintains compliance with all regulations.
- Manage and compile documentation for federal and state tax audits, acting as a point of contact for regulatory agencies.
- Calculate and prepare quarterly and annual tax provisions for inclusion in the company’s financial statements.
- Identify and propose strategies to reduce tax liabilities and enhance profitability for the organization.
- Maintain the company’s tax database and records to ensure all information is accurate and organized.
- Review the work of junior accounting staff to ensure accuracy and provide guidance on complex tax matters.
- Respond to tax-related correspondence and inquiries from various internal departments and external authorities.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
- 5-7 years of experience as a Tax Accountant
- Working knowledge of federal and state (California) tax laws and regulations.
- Must be articulate and comfortable communicating with clients.
- Solid understanding of G/L, GAAP requirements and domestic accounting regulations.
- Organized and detailed-oriented.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all work produced.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficient in Lacerte and QuickBooks preferred, though not required.
- Extensive experience in tax accounting combined with strong knowledge of regulatory compliance accounting standards
- Solid understanding of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, financial statement preparation, and interpretation of financial reports
- Expertise in estate planning, wills, trusts & estate law, non-profit accounting, and public accounting practices
- Strong technical accounting skills including regulatory reporting, financial report writing, and financial statement interpretation
- Excellent attention to detail combined with critical thinking skills necessary for auditing and compliance tasks
- Effective communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating across departments
- CPA eligibility is preferred, but not required
- You must be an Active Enrolled Agent

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
