GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to enforce local, county, and state animal laws and ordinances. Responds to calls and captures animals that may be sick, injured, or aggressive. Performs euthanasia. Educates the public on animal laws. Investigates complaints and issues citations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patrols assigned areas to enforce state, county, and local laws regarding stray, dangerous and nuisance domestic animals.
- Investigates animal-related complaints.
- Manages and mitigates wildlife hazards, including performing euthanasia and other duties for humane animal protection and control.
- Performs license checks, such as rabies vaccinations, and record management activities in accordance with County regulations.
- Educates community members Union on proper and humane animal care.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- 6 months + training beyond High School
- 1 to 3 years of related work experience in public safety, animal handling, or related field.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
Required Licenses or Certifications
- State certifications in animal control and euthanasia
