Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to join their Corporate Finance team and take a hands-on leadership role across accounting, financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and internal controls. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting function while helping ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and useful to business leaders.

The Controller will work closely with the management team to strengthen financial processes, support long-term financial goals, and provide the reporting and insights needed to make informed business decisions. The right candidate will bring strong GAAP knowledge, experience leading accounting professionals, and a practical understanding of accounting within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
- Oversee the monthly accounting close process, including review of account balances, supporting schedules, reconciliations, and operating results.
- Perform analytical reviews of monthly financial results and investigate significant variances or unusual activity.
- Maintain appropriate accounting practices and internal controls in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Coordinate compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial reporting and tax requirements.
- Prepare financial schedules, documentation, and supporting information for annual financial reporting and tax filings in partnership with an outside CPA firm.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting and ensure accurate maintenance of fixed asset records.
- Coordinate and oversee physical inventory processes across multiple locations.
- Support annual budgeting and financial planning activities.
- Partner with the CFO and management team on financial initiatives, long-term goals, and business decisions.
- Manage, mentor, and develop accounting team members while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
- Assist with accounting and recordkeeping requirements related to company retirement plans.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, reporting, controls, and overall financial operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or people-management experience.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience managing or playing a significant role in monthly and year-end close processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and translate financial information into practical recommendations.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely to employees and leaders at multiple levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and accountability in a deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation or comparable professional accounting certification.
- Previous manufacturing accounting experience.
- Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, and related financial controls.
- Experience preparing or overseeing sales tax reporting.
- Familiarity with fixed asset accounting systems and enterprise general ledger/accounting platforms.
- Experience partnering directly with senior leadership or a CFO.
- Experience improving accounting processes, internal controls, or financial reporting procedures.
