Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Receptionist to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for clients and their pets, providing exceptional customer service while supporting the smooth daily operation of our veterinary practice. This role requires excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, and a genuine passion for animal care. The Veterinary Receptionist will handle appointment scheduling and client communication, ensuring a positive experience for pet owners and their animals.
Duties
- Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival and departure
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments efficiently
- Manage medical records and update client/patient information accurately
- Collect payments and process billing transactions
- Answer phone calls, respond to client inquiries, and provide basic information about our medical services and pharmacy products
- Respond to client emails, voicemails, text messages efficiently
- Complete online pharmacy prescription requests
- Be comfortable discussing euthanasia procedures with clients and their post-mortem options
- Assist with kennel management and animal husbandry tasks as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of reception area, treatment rooms, and client bathroom
- Hours needed are Monday 8 am-4pm &/or Friday 8am-5pm, Tuesday & Thursday 1pm-5pm
Experience
- Prior experience in veterinary clinics or animal care settings is highly desirable
- Prior customer service experience is REQUIRED
- Basic knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy preferred but will train the right candidate
- Experience with basic handling of dogs and cats (including when they are stressed, ill, or in pain)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
- Ability to work efficiently/multi-task in a sometimes fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
