Seeking an experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for the Float Pool at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital. Ideal candidates have strong Med/Surg, Telemetry, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and tracheostomy care experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients.
- Manage Med/Surg and Telemetry patients with complex medical conditions.
- Perform cardiac monitoring and interpret/manage dysrhythmias.
- Provide comprehensive tracheostomy care and management.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and support rapid response needs.
- Float across units according to facility needs and clinical competency.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience – HARD STOP
- BLS required
- ACLS preferred
- CPI preferred; facility does not offer CPI
- Strong Telemetry/Cardiac Monitoring experience
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management experience
- Tracheostomy care/management experience
- Previous float experience strongly preferred
Schedule Details
- 3x12-hour day shifts: 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
- Patient ratio: 1:6
- Floating required
- Weekend coverage: Per facility needs
- Locals accepted
- First-time travelers accepted; candidates with 4+ years of experience and strong float experience may be considered
