OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced nurse (LPN or RN) to assist the DON in managing clinical operations in an assisted living facility (Franciscan Shore). This pivotal role provides leadership and guidance to nursing staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes best practices in resident care. The ideal candidate will have energetic leadership skills that will help to drive quality improvement initiatives and foster a collaborative team environment that puts resident care at the forefront.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical and Quality Management:
1. Assist the DON in overseeing nursing care and ensuring adherence to care plans and best clinical practices.
2. Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement initiatives.
3. Conduct audits and chart reviews to ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility standards.
4. Monitors resident outcomes and participates in interdisciplinary care planning.
5. Addresses and investigates clinical incidents, complaints, and grievances.
6. Participates in the on-call rotation for the nursing department.
7. Serves as a relief nurse supervisor as needed.
Education and Training:
1. Coordinates and delivers ongoing education and training for nursing staff, including new employee orientation.
2. Identifies staff learning needs and develops in-service education programs accordingly.
3. Promotes a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
4. In collaboration with the HR Department, ensure that the credentials of nursing staff are current and ensure that all staff in the nursing department have received the required training.
Infection Control:
1. Serves as Infection Control Nurse and collaborates closely with DON.
2. Monitors infection trends and ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols.
3. Educates staff on proper hygiene, isolation procedures, and outbreak management.
4. Ensures compliance with CDC, CMS, and local public health guidelines.
Leadership and Supervision:
1. Provides supervision, coaching, and support to licensed nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants and Nursing Assistants.
2. Assists with staffing, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
3. Acts as a clinical resource and mentor to staff.
4. Participates in department meetings and acts as the DON’s designee in their absence.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Strong leadership skills and abilities: Dependable, responsible, compassionate, approachable, patient, empathetic, active listener, positive, flexible, ability to communicate effectively to all staff in a professional manner, and ability to teach and mentor others.
- Knowledge of CBRF and RCAC regulations.
- Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures, including fire safety, first aid, bloodborne pathogens, etc.
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to daily clinical needs.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to understand and apply federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Ability to evaluate data and make comprehensive recommendations and reports.
- Ability to plan, organize, assign, supervise, and review the work of others.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in matters and in the application and interpretation of company policies and procedures.
- Ability to use independent judgment and make informed decisions.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to respond to common inquiries from appropriate people.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend information.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be available to be on-call as needed for the nursing department.
Education and/or Experience: Must also have 3-5 years of experience in a long-term care facility as a nurse, infection control background and experience in an assisted living/CBRF preferred. Must have a current LPN or RN license in the State of Wisconsin. Completion of the CBRF Instructor’s training for all four (4) CBRF courses is preferred. If not completed prior to being hired, must complete CBRF Instructor’s training within 6 months of being hired.
