Job Overview
We are looking for applicants that are certified to drive school bus in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Various school districts and contractors are looking for drivers to stabilize their transportation programs until local drivers can be hired and certified. You will be a vital part in stablizing service, enabling kids to get transported to school on a daily basis.

Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses according to traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations.
- Ensure passenger safety by following emergency response procedures for transportation and implementing emergency stop procedures when necessary.
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus, including wheelchair assistance and behavior management to promote a respectful environment.
- Maintain order and discipline onboard, addressing student behavior with professionalism and clear communication skills.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections, monitor traffic conditions, and respond quickly to traffic changes to ensure timely arrivals.
- Follow school policy knowledge and transit bus operation standards to uphold high safety and service quality.
- Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students to provide excellent customer service and address any concerns promptly.
- Perform heavy lifting tasks when necessary for vehicle maintenance or securing equipment safely.
Experience
- Proven experience in bus driving, commercial driving, or transit bus operation is preferred.
- Prior work with children or senior care demonstrates strong behavior management and passenger safety skills.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, state and local commercial driving laws, and transportation safety regulations is essential.
- Certification in first aid, CPR, defensive driving, emergency response procedures for transportation, and wheelchair assistance is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with writing skills for shift reports and incident documentation are important.
- Ability to respond quickly to traffic changes, manage student discipline effectively, and handle emergency situations confidently.
- Experience working within school policies or in roles requiring customer service excellence will be advantageous.
Compensation
$25.00 per hour with a minimum daily guarantee of 6 hours per school day
