- Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce precise parts
- Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and manual programming techniques
- Conduct precision measurements with calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify dimensions
- Maintain machine tools by performing routine inspections, adjustments, and basic repairs with hand tools and power tools
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols including proper use of tooling, welding equipment when necessary, and mechanical knowledge of plastics injection molding processes when applicable
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing workflows and reducing waste throughout the machining process
Experience
- Proven experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code or conversational programming
- Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks or similar for part design review
- Skilled in blueprint reading with an understanding of GD&T principles for quality control
- Mechanical aptitude with experience using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision measuring instruments
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, welding techniques, and tooling management is a plus
