The Director of Operations and Finance is a key leadership role within the NBIC office, responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of NBIC's support functions, service delivery, and client engagement. This position works closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to implement the organizational vision, ensure financial sustainability, and drive operational excellence across the organization. This is a leadership role focused on directing and overseeing internal staff and external partners who carry out day-to-day execution across each functional area.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the CEO to develop and implement NBIC's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and vision, and contribute to long-term organizational planning and sustainability initiatives.
Financial Management: Provide strategic oversight of all financial functions, including budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and internal controls, working through finance staff and external partners. Work with the leadership team to develop and manage departmental budgets and ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Operations Management: Oversee NBIC's operational support functions, including human resources, information technology, and facilities management, directing internal staff and external partners who carry out day-to-day operations. Develop and implement efficient and effective operational procedures.
Program Management: Provide leadership oversight of NBIC's service delivery, ensuring client needs are met, projects are appropriately staffed and budgeted, and programs are delivered with high quality and impact, working through Program staff responsible for direct execution.
Human Resources: Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and employee relations, directing HR staff and ensuring compliance with all employment laws and regulations.
Client Engagement: Participate in client programming in a consulting and/or project management capacity, leveraging expertise to support the success of NBIC's clients, while cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Contract Review: Review and advise on contracts ensuring compliance with legal and organizational requirements.
The Director of Operations and Finance should have:
- Demonstrated success improving finance and operations in a nonprofit or lean organization
- Experience implementing systems, streamlining processes, reducing costs, or improving financial visibility
- The ability to prioritize competing demands and balance strategy with execution
- Demonstrated experience leading change from planning through implementation

Education:
Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required

10+ years
Job Related Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or small business environment; small business ownership experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of human resources principles and practices.
- Experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, written and verbal.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Genuine passion for supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs.
