Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Ophthalmic Assistant to join our dynamic eye care team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and facilitate the intake process efficiently.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation to support clinical assessments.
- Assist with ophthalmic examinations including eye refraction, tonometry, and A-scan procedures.
- Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment while adhering to aseptic techniques and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Maintain accurate medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Epic or similar platforms.
- Support ophthalmologists during patient examinations by preparing necessary instruments and ensuring proper use of medical equipment.
- Uphold patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies at all times.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmology principles.
- Experience with medical office procedures including intake, medical coding, billing, and managing medical records.
- Proficiency in operating ophthalmic diagnostic tools such as tonometers, A-scans, and ophthalmic imaging devices.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or other electronic health record management platforms.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on direct patient care in diverse populations including pediatrics.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks accurately while maintaining aseptic technique and adhering to safety standards.
- Prior retail sales or front desk experience is a plus for managing patient flow and supporting clinic operations effectively.
