The Code Enforcement Officers in the Town of Riverhead is responsible for ensuring compliance with local and State codes and ordinances, and regulations related to property maintenance, zoning, health, safety, and environmental standards. This role involves inspecting properties, investigating complaints, and working with property owners to achieve compliance.
Job Duties:
- Patrols the Town of Riverhead, noting violations of Town codes and ordinances such as litter, open container, noise, peddling, dumping, parking violations, signage, etc.
- Investigates complaints referred by the public or other agencies regarding the violation of Town codes and ordinances;
- Investigates reports of violations of Town codes and ordinances and issues summonses to violators when sufficient evidence exists;
- Testifies in Town Justice Court cases which are contested.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a standard senior high school, or vocational school in a job-related field, or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
- Must have a clean-valid NYS driver license
Starting rate is $26.16.
