JOB SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, the Public Works Field Tech I (Wastewater) is responsible for routine cleaning and maintenance of the wastewater system and responding to wastewater overflows.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs repairs and maintenance on the wastewater collection system, including sewer collection mains, sewer line manholes, and sewer line clean-outs.
Performs minor maintenance on all assigned operating equipment and tooling.
Performs landscaping work following planned or emergency repairs to the wastewater collection system.
Performs other maintenance-related duties in the wastewater division, as required.
Performs daily checks on assigned vehicles to ensure proper and safe operation.
Operates a light vehicle and radio and performs operator's maintenance on the vehicle.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Communicate in English, clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

Computer skills in data entry and data acquisition.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school education or equivalent is required. Must possess a valid Texas Class “A” C.D.L. Driver’s license or obtain within one (1) year of employment. Must obtain a Class “I” Wastewater Collection License within two (2) years of employment. Must be in good physical condition to permit working under adverse weather conditions. Must have a good driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Lifting loads up to 55 lbs. (measuring up to 36”); carrying 55 lbs. (up to 15 feet); pushing/pulling 75 lbs.; gripping/rotating hand tools up to 25 lbs.; stair/step climbing (accessing truck); bending; squatting; kneeling; walking; sitting; standing; near/far vision; accessing sewer structures (manholes, trenches, pipes, etc.); working in outside temperatures including excess heat, cold, and precipitation.
