Position Summary
The Hose Tester is responsible for performing safe and accurate inspections, testing, and documentation of chemical transport hoses to ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety of our drivers, customers, and facility by certifying hoses used for hazmat transport.
Key Responsibilities

Perform pressure testing and certification of chemical transport hoses in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory standards.

Inspect hoses for wear, defects, damage, and compliance with chemical compatibility requirements.

Document test results accurately and maintain required logs, tags, and certification records.

Prepare hoses for service, including cleaning, capping, labeling, and staging.

Assist mechanics and drivers with hose-related questions or equipment needs.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe hose-testing area; ensure proper disposal of damaged hoses.

Follow all PPE requirements, including chemical suits, gloves, safety glasses, and footwear.

Identify safety concerns and immediately report issues to management.

Support general shop operations as needed, including light mechanical or facility tasks.

Conduct tank trailer walk-arounds, checking vents, valves, gaskets, hoses, pumps, and safety equipment.

Ensure all work meets DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA safety standards.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.

Communicate equipment issues promptly with dispatch, drivers, and management.

Assist with inventory, parts ordering, and tracking when needed.

Follow all PPE requirements, including chemical suits, gloves, safety glasses, and footwear.
Qualifications & Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.

Prior industrial, chemical, tank wash, or mechanical experience preferred.

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.

Comfortable working around chemicals, pressured equipment, and noisy environments.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.

Basic computer or tablet knowledge for data entry and logging.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Willingness to wear full PPE, including respirators when required (fit test provided).
