Job Purpose:
The Cultivation Technician position plays a crucial role in the Farm department, ensuring daily tasks are completed efficiently to meet weekly goals. Responsibilities include maintaining and cultivating the farm as per management's instructions. The Cultivation Technician must carry out tasks with precision, productivity, and professionalism, emphasizing safety throughout. Reporting to the Farm Supervisors and Farm Manager, this role also assists in guiding other team members to achieve department objectives effectively.

You cannot have any controlled substance misdemeanors within the previous 5 years. Compliance with the Michigan marijuana laws is an essential part of the job. Employees in a licensed grow may not also be licensed caregivers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute core flower tasks and techniques according to SOPs and Management
- Instruction in a conscientious and skillful manner.
- Completing tasks based on expectations and deadlines set by the management team
- Comply with all HR policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure
- Comply with all laws and regulations pertinent to cannabis cultivation and all attendant activities including, but not limited to, those of the Michigan Licensing and Regulation Authority, Michigan Department of Agriculture, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
- Supporting the Supervisors and Manager of Far, to guide and train farm department members to maintain and garden the cultivation.
- Ensuring accurate and legible logging of a variety of paperwork and labels
- Supporting the organizing and securing of all Metrc tags
- Clear understanding of workflow throughout the cultivation areas
- Follow the instructions to complete duties and tasks asked by the leadership of the department to maintain and garden the farm
- Preparing and loading tables
- Transferring plants from different areas of the facility stages of growth
- Trellising tables with the plants for the proper growth
- Harvesting mature plants to then transfer and securely transport to the Trim department
- Cleaning and maintaining all areas, equipment, material throughout the cultivation
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires extended periods of sitting, walking, bending, and reaching
- 5 day work week; because it is a grow, there will likely be shorter weekend shifts required. Consistent on-time attendance is mandatory, with occasional overtime shifts to complete daily and weekly objectives.
- Must be able to lift objects on a regular basis, and perform daily repetitive tasks
- Must be able to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to handle organic matter daily, able to wear PPE as appropriate (eye, face, hand, arm, foot, body, fall protection), and be able to be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions while wearing PPE
- Exposure to allergens and organic pesticides in the grow facility or greenhouse
Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in botany, horticulture, or agriculture or similar programs/experience is beneficial
- One year of work experience in a related industry or work environment preferred, but will train the right person
- Experience working in a fast-paced production environment is preferred
