Responsibilities
- Install, upgrade, and repair residential electrical systems including wiring, outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, and panels.
- Diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and troubleshoot complex electrical systems efficiently.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to ensure precise installation and repairs.
- Ensure all work adheres to NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEC standards, and local electrical codes to guarantee safety and compliance.
- Perform high-voltage electrical wiring tasks safely on residential construction or renovation sites.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential hazards or failures before they occur.
- Follow strict electrical safety procedures during all phases of work to protect yourself and others on-site.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to complete installations accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with construction teams on new builds or renovations to integrate electrical components seamlessly into the project scope.
- Read electrical blueprints and schematics accurately to plan installations or troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, materials used, and inspections completed for each project.
Experience
- Proven experience as a residential electrician with a solid understanding of both new installations and renovation projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial electrician practices is a plus, especially for complex or high-voltage systems.
- Experience working on commercial electrical systems is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with NFPA 70 compliance standards, NEC regulations, and local electrical codes is essential.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting electrical systems using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and multimeters.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams with confidence.
- Construction site experience including framing carpentry or handyman skills enhances versatility on diverse projects.
- Strong understanding of low voltage wiring systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), high-voltage wiring, and industrial electrical systems is desirable.
- Prior experience working safely with high-voltage electrical wiring in various environments is highly valued.
