bttr Living is launching one of the Bay Area's first dedicated Independent Living Skills programs designed specifically for Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are looking for someone who believes that communication should never be a barrier to independence.
As our ASL Advocate Coordinator, you will help build a program from the ground up that empowers participants to live more independently while creating a more accessible and inclusive disability service system. Your work will directly improve lives and help establish a new standard of support for the Deaf community across the Bay Area.

What You Will Do
As an ASL Advocate Coordinator, you will provide individualized Independent Living Skills coaching to Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults receiving Regional Center services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Building trusting, meaningful relationships with participants.
- Communicating fluently using American Sign Language (ASL).
- Teaching practical independent living skills based on each participant's person centered goals.
- Supporting community integration, transportation training, and social engagement.
- Coaching participants in self advocacy, communication, and decision making.
- Assisting participants with budgeting, meal planning, shopping, organization, and household management.
- Supporting participants with understanding medical appointments, follow up recommendations, and healthcare navigation within the scope of Independent Living Skills services.
- Helping participants build employment readiness and workplace skills.
- Collaborating with families, Regional Center Service Coordinators, and other members of the participant's support team.
- Completing timely and accurate documentation in accordance with Regional Center and bttr Living requirements.
- Advocating for accessibility, independence, and equal opportunities for every participant.
Minimum Qualifications
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Human Services, Psychology, Education, Social Work, Deaf Studies, or a related field preferred.
- At least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals, or in human services is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
- Ability to pass all required background clearances.
