Medical Assistant – Neurology / Sleep Medicine
Texas Institute for Neurological Disorders (TIND) is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our growing team!
This is a full-time Medical Assistant position requiring weekly travel between our Plano, McKinney, Sherman, and Denison locations. Candidates must be comfortable traveling to each assigned clinic location according to the weekly schedule below.
Weekly Location Schedule
- Monday: Plano – Preston Rd.
- Tuesday: McKinney
- Wednesday & Thursday: Sherman
- Friday: Denison
About the Position
Medical Assistants are an essential part of the patient care team at TIND. In this role, you will work closely with providers, patients, and clinical staff to help deliver high-quality neurological and sleep medicine care to the communities we serve.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced position with a variety of clinical and administrative responsibilities. TIND also offers opportunities for specialized procedure training and professional growth for team members interested in expanding their skills and advancing their careers.
The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, efficient, and comfortable multitasking in a busy medical practice. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential.
Requirements
- 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience required
- Sleep medicine experience preferred
- Strong typing skills and general computer proficiency
- Ability to quickly learn computer-based medical systems, workflows, and protocols
- EMR experience preferred; eClinicalWorks experience is a plus
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Bilingual skills are a plus
- Ability and willingness to travel weekly between Plano, McKinney, Sherman, and Denison
Duties & Responsibilities
- Room patients and prepare them for provider visits
- Obtain and accurately document vital signs and patient information in the medical record
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR
- Answer inbound telephone calls and assist patients with questions and requests
- Provide professional, compassionate, and courteous customer service
- Protect and support patients' rights to care, privacy, confidentiality, and respect
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, coworkers, and other members of the healthcare team
- Assist with CPAP/BiPAP management, including pulling compliance reports, coordinating equipment orders, and assisting patients with related needs
- Follow established clinical protocols and office procedures
- Assist providers and clinical staff as needed
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
