Front Desk & Customer Service Associate — Dance Studio
Impact Dance Studio · La Grange / Countryside, IL
Part-time · ~15 hours/week · Weekday afternoons & evenings plus some Saturdays
$18–22 per hour, depending on experience
You're the first person every dance family talks to.
When a nervous four-year-old walks in for her first class, when a parent calls with a question about the recital schedule, when someone needs shoes fitted twenty minutes before class starts — you're there, and you make it easy.
We're not just looking for someone to answer phones. We're looking for someone who genuinely likes people: who remembers names, notices when a parent seems stressed, and makes families feel like this is their studio. That's the heart of the job, and it's what turns a first-time visitor into a family who dances with us for years.
If you light up around kids and can hold a warm, confident conversation with their parents, keep reading.
What you'll do
- Welcome families. Greet everyone who walks through the door, learn names, and set the tone for the studio.
- Register students. Enroll new dancers, handle class changes, process payments, and answer questions about schedules and policies.
- Own the phone and inbox. Return calls and emails promptly, warmly, and accurately.
- Fit and sell shoes and gear. Help dancers find the right size, recommend products, and keep the retail area stocked and organized.
- Solve problems in the moment. Wrong class, missing shoe, frustrated parent — you handle it calmly and follow up.
- Keep the studio welcoming. Light tidying, restocking supplies, and resetting the lobby between classes. This is a hands-on role — we all pitch in, because a clean, organized space is part of how families experience us.
Who you are
- Genuinely warm. People walk away from a conversation with you feeling better than when they started.
- Great with kids and adults. You can redirect a squirmy six-year-old, then turn around and have a clear, professional conversation with her mom.
- Excellent on the phone. Clear, friendly, and unhurried, even when the lobby is full.
- Organized and reliable. You show up on time, follow through, and don't let details slip.
- A self-starter. You notice what needs doing and handle it without being asked.
- Comfortable with technology. Studio management software, email, and payment systems — you'll pick it up quickly.
Helpful but not required: experience in customer service, retail, hospitality, childcare, or front desk work; a background in dance, gymnastics, or performing arts.
Schedule
Roughly 15 hours per week, weekday afternoons/evenings and some Saturdays. Occasional additional hours during recital and registration season. We'll set specific days together.
