Classroom Floater and After School Program Coordinator
Supporting the Whole Child in a Nurturing, Respectful Environment
Grand Blanc Montessori is seeking a kind, dependable, and collaborative Classroom Floater and After School Program Coordinator. This position supports classrooms throughout the school day and leads our After School Program in the afternoon.
This is a part-time position with hours Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Position Overview:
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children of varying ages, thrives in a dynamic environment, and values building positive relationships. From 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the employee will provide flexible support throughout the school, assisting classrooms serving children ages 16 months through 12 years. From 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the employee will coordinate and supervise our After School Program.
The successful candidate will help create a peaceful, organized, and welcoming environment while supporting children's independence, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Floater Responsibilities (11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
- Provide support in classrooms as needed throughout the school
After School Program Coordinator Responsibilities (3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
- Supervise children enrolled in the After School Program
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, games, and outdoor experiences
- Maintain a safe, positive, and engaging environment
- Support children in resolving conflicts respectfully and independently
- Ensure proper attendance tracking and student supervision at all times
- Communicate professionally with families during pickup
- Maintain program materials and prepare the space for the following day
- Assist with lunch, outdoor play, rest time, and classroom transitions
- Help maintain clean, orderly, and inviting classroom environments
- Support children with self-care routines, including handwashing, toileting, and dressing for outdoor play
- Prepare and organize classroom materials and supplies
- Assist lead guides with daily classroom needs
- Model grace, courtesy, and respectful communication with children and staff
Ideal Candidate:
- At least 18 years of age
- Has experience working with young children in a nurturing setting
- Brings a calm, grounded presence and a willingness to grow
- Communicates respectfully with children and adults alike
- Is dependable, observant, and a thoughtful team player
- Understands or is open to learning about Montessori principles and practices
