Senior Electrical Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design projects from concept through construction. The role focuses on delivering safe, code-compliant, and cost-effective electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership, prepare construction documents, ensure NEC compliance, and collaborate with architects, contractors, and clients to achieve project goals.
Key Responsibilities

Lead electrical engineering design for power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, emergency systems, grounding, and low-voltage systems across multiple project types.

Develop and review electrical plans, specifications, single-line diagrams, load calculations, and equipment schedules using Revit and AutoCAD.

Ensure designs comply with NEC and applicable local codes, standards, and utility requirements.

Perform electrical calculations for short-circuit, coordination, voltage drop, and load analysis to support equipment selection and system design.

Prepare construction documents, cost estimates, and bid review packages; review contractor submittals and shop drawings.

Provide construction administration and field support, including site visits, RFI responses, and commissioning support.

Mentor and supervise junior engineers and EITs; review work for quality, accuracy, and compliance.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (architectural, structural, mechanical, civil) to integrate electrical systems into overall building design.

Serve as the client technical lead during design meetings, presentations, and project reviews.

Implement best practices in design, documentation, and project delivery, including energy-efficient solutions and sustainable design considerations.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or equivalent) required.

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; EIT with pathway to PE will be considered.

7+ years of professional electrical engineering design experience; experience leading projects and mentoring staff.

Demonstrated expertise with Revit and AutoCAD for electrical design and documentation.

Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and experience applying local codes and utility standards.

Proven skills in electrical system design, load calculations, short-circuit and coordination studies, and equipment selection.

Experience preparing construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience interacting with clients, contractors, and project teams.

Experience with engineering analysis tools and electrical modeling software preferred (e.g., ETAP, SKM, or similar).

Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality designs on schedule.

Salary
$125000 - $175000 USD per year
