Fire Escape Services Network is hiring a staff-level field team member to support fire escape inspection projects throughout the Bay Area. This is an entry-to-mid-level role open to candidates with a background in home inspection, architecture, or engineering — we're looking for the right person more than a specific credential, and we'll tailor your day-to-day work to your background and interests.
This is a staff position with a clear growth path into supervisor, manager, or director roles within the company as you gain experience with our inspection processes, including fire escape inspections, report generation ,SB721 and SB326 balcony inspections, and fire escape load testing.
What you'll do
Depending on your background, your responsibilities may include a mix of the following:
Inspection & documentation (all candidates)
- Conduct on-site fire escape inspections
- Gather photo and video documentation of fire escape and inspection sites
- Support the team in compiling inspection reports based on field findings
- Assist with SB721 and SB326 balcony inspections
- Get hands-on exposure to structural load testing
If you have an architectural background
- Support architectural drawing work using CAD or Revit, including drawings related to fire escape structures
- Assist with drawing development tied to inspection findings
If you have an engineering background
- Support engineering consulting and code consultation related to fire escapes
- Assist with structural calculations
- Perform drawing review
- Support ongoing project needs as they come up
Qualifications
- Licensed or credentialed (or in progress toward licensure) as a Home Inspector, Architect, or Engineer in the State of California
- Based in, or willing to work on-site throughout, the Bay Area
- Entry-level to mid-level experience — we're not requiring a senior background for this role
- Comfortable with on-site field work, including photo/video documentation
- CAD or Revit experience a plus (architectural candidates)
- Familiarity with structural calculations, code consultation, or drawing review a plus (engineering candidates)

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
