The Educational Services Division is now accepting applications for Paraeducator Trainer – Special Education (Bilingual ASL Required).
Under assigned supervision, the Paraeducator Trainer- Special Education will assist the department by providing on-site training, coaching, and professional development to classified personnel related to the assigned job duties including, but not limited to, instructional and behavioral support, data collection, personal care, clerical duties and other job functions related to the paraeducator position; performs a variety of instructional support duties to individuals or small groups of Special Education pupils as needed.
This person in this position will support students and staff by facilitating communication access in educational and training settings. The Paraeducator Trainer - Special Education will use American Sign Language (ASL) as the primary mode of communication with Deaf or hard-of-hearing students. The Paraeducator Trainer - Special Education will use spoken English, written English, or other visual communication strategies to communicate with hearing staff, trainers, and administrators.
Essential communication functions of the role may include:

Using ASL to support instruction, training activities, and daily interactions

Conveying information between Deaf/hard-of-hearing individuals and hearing staff as needed

Communicating with students, instructors, supervisors, and support staff in both structured and informal settings

Adapting communication methods to meet individual access needs
This position is part-time, and has a work year of 11 months, 193 days
, 6 hours per day, Bilingual ASL Required
This is a specially funded position that is subject to annual approval and renewal by the LEA Collaborative.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES-

Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated.

The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for TBD.

Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for TBD.

Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list.

Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for TBD.

Second interviews may be held in-person.
