Job Overview
Roc Search is recruiting for an established civil engineering firm looking to add a Civil Project Engineer to its land development team in the Arlington and Northern Virginia area.
This position is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with at least four years of land development or site civil experience. The Project Engineer will support residential, commercial, mixed-use, and other development projects from initial design through permitting and construction.
The role offers a combination of hands-on Civil 3D design, project coordination, client interaction, and a clear path toward Project Manager responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare civil engineering plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Complete grading, drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and utility design
- Produce site plans, construction documents, calculations, reports, and permit packages
- Support projects from initial concept through construction
- Coordinate submissions and approvals with local agencies and jurisdictions
- Work with clients, architects, surveyors, contractors, and other project consultants
- Assist with proposals, project schedules, budgets, and client communication
- Perform QA/QC reviews of engineering plans and technical documents
- Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Take on increasing project management and client-facing responsibilities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Four or more years of land development or site civil engineering experience
- Active Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain Virginia PE reciprocity
- Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
- Experience with grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, erosion control, and construction plan production
- Knowledge of local permitting and entitlement processes
- Experience in Northern Virginia, Washington, DC, or Maryland is strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and project coordination skills
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of $100,000–$140,000, based on experience
