The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) is the steward of the Government of the District of Columbia’s (District’s) finances. Since its creation in 1996, OCFO’s mission is to ensure the financial integrity and long-term fiscal health of the District. OCFO accomplishes this mission by ensuring balanced budgets, unqualified or “clean” audit opinions, and access to quality credit markets with high and improving bond ratings.
OCFO’s operational responsibilities include forecasting the District’s revenues and financial condition, developing and managing the District’s budget, administering the District’s taxes, and executing and recording the District’s financial transactions. In addition, OCFO administers the District’s lottery and gaming programs, and oversees the finances of the University of the District of Columbia and the Washington Convention and Sports Authority (Events DC).
We are in search of a Commercial Appraiser . The incumbent is responsible for inspecting and appraising a broad range of commercial properties with extremely unusual and/or complex characteristics to determine the value for tax assessment purposes.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Analysis
- Prepares and analyzes highly complex or controversial appraisals.
- Assists the supervisor with reviews of appraisals and appraisal reports.
- Provides guidance to lower graded appraisal staff.
Administrative Duties
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Four (4) years of progressive experience performing related duties and responsibilities such as: assessing the market value and conducting inspections of residential and/or commercial properties; collecting/analyzing data on new and unique properties with complex characteristics; reviewing appraisal reports to ensure property values are estimated accurately and objectively; resolving property value problems; and providing training to lower-level staff. Applicants must successfully complete the IAAO courses 101, 102, 112, and 300, or their equivalent courses. In addition, certificates and/or transcripts for completed courses must be submitted to be considered for the position.
