Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of clinical procedures, medical documentation, and patient care, with experience across various specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient settings. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting physicians and healthcare providers by ensuring efficient clinic operations, delivering exceptional patient service, and maintaining accurate medical records. Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize medical instruments to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures to collect blood samples for laboratory testing with precision and care.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) by documenting patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper handling and documentation of pharmaceuticals.
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, medication usage, and post-visit instructions to enhance understanding and compliance.
- Assist in various clinical procedures related to dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or other specialties as required.
- Maintain organized medical records in compliance with privacy regulations and assist with ICD coding for billing purposes.
- Support hospital or outpatient clinic operations by managing appointments, scheduling follow-ups, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrate proficiency in anatomy knowledge, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology to ensure accurate patient assessments.
Experience
- Prior experience working as a Medical Assistant in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy and basic life support (BLS) certification is required.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) and medical documentation is essential for success in this role.
- Inpatient experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers is advantageous for candidates interested in emergency medicine or trauma settings.
- Knowledge of ICD coding, pharmacology principles, and anatomy enhances the quality of patient care provided.
- Previous exposure to medical-surgical environments or geriatrics is beneficial for supporting diverse patient populations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in fast-paced clinical settings are necessary.
