Join a dynamic solo practice specializing in family and criminal defense law as a Part-time Paralegal. Responsibilities
- Assist with case management by organizing and maintaining legal documents using document management systems such as MyCase and Word processing tools like Microsoft Office.
- Conduct thorough legal research across various practice areas including family law, criminal defense, estate planning, environmental law, and more using Westlaw (if necessary)
- Draft legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and reports with precision and clarity to support attorneys’ needs. Templates shall be provided.
- Support client communication by scheduling appointments, scheduling hearings, and handling confidential information professionally.
- Manage case deadlines, court filings, and document review processes efficiently to ensure timely submissions.
- Provide administrative support such as data entry, maintaining case logs, and coordinating with clients or external agencies as needed.
Requirements
- Proven paralegal experience or relevant legal support background in law office settings.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent research skills utilizing Westlaw, and other legal research tools.
- Familiarity with procedural law knowledge across civil litigation, family law, criminal defense, and related fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and document management systems like MyCase.
- Effective interviewing skills for client intake and witness interviews.
- Knowledge of legal drafting standards for pleadings and correspondence; proofreading skills are essential.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while demonstrating professionalism in all interactions.
- Strong communication skills including phone etiquette and client service orientation.
