Defense Drafter/Checker (SolidWorks)

About the Opportunity
[Confidential] is seeking an experienced Defense Drafter/Checker to support the development and production of mission-critical defense and military systems. This role is responsible for creating, reviewing, and validating detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation while ensuring full compliance with military, customer, and industry standards.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in defense, aerospace, or military programs and possess strong expertise in SolidWorks, engineering drawing standards, configuration management, and technical documentation processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed engineering, assembly, installation, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Review and check engineering drawings for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, and compliance with established standards.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, materials, notes, and bill of materials (BOM) data.
- Review Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Identify drawing discrepancies and drive corrective actions.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams.
- Support design reviews, production readiness reviews, and quality audits.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Drafting, Design Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of drafting and checking experience within defense, aerospace, manufacturing, or military environments.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (strongly preferred and expected for this role).
- Strong understanding of engineering drawing principles, drafting practices, and manufacturing documentation.
- Demonstrated experience interpreting military specifications and defense contract requirements.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering documentation standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Pay: Up to $53.00 per hour
