Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in enhancing the quality of life for our individuals. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in assisting with activities, within the community, tailored to the interests and needs of individuals in our adult habilitation program. This position requires excellent communication skills and a passion for working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Duties
- Assist individuals in adult habilitation with individual living skills.
- Examines workplace visually to verify adherence to specifications.
- Assist with supervision of individuals.
- Maintains confidentiality of records for all assigned individuals.
- Maintain a conducive environment where individuals, may reach their maximum potential.
- Assist individuals with self-help needs when necessary.
- Assume van duty assignment as scheduled.
- Must attend on-going in-services and staff meetings.
- Maintain personal time sheets.
- Responsible for maintaining the respect, dignity, and rights of all individuals.
- Reports any incident of staff injury/incident immediately to the supervisor; complete written report before the end of the shift of injury/incident.
- Perform other routine tasks which may be assigned by the program director or his/her designee.
- Assist with supervision of up to 4 individuals or a fraction thereof, depending upon the functional impairment of the individuals involved.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have a GED or high school diploma. Required criminal history check of personnel working with individuals with disabilities.
