Job Summary:
With direction from the Terminal Manager, or Dispatch Supervisor, a Dispatcher is a full-time, hourly position responsible for ensuring the daily coverage for school bus routes and field trips, answer telephone calls from our customers and the public, communicating changes and instructions to drivers.

JOB DUTIES
- Communicating with schools, parents, drivers, and aides; Answers telephone inquiries and communicates on two-way radio.
- Ensure employees report to work as scheduled and complete and file paperwork.
- Ensure all vehicles are staffed for the day; assigns substitute drivers, as needed; plans, schedules, and assigns drivers for special transportation, including field trips, athletic events, public charters etc.
- Observe and track route timing; Assist in developing routes, busloads, bus stops and schedules when necessary, using routing software.
- Read and follow established School District contracts.
- Report concerns, violations or issues to the Terminal Manager or Supervisor
- Keep records and submit reports; Including maintenance records of mileage, gas consumption, and other related data; daily vehicle inspection and buses are cleaned daily as required by law.
- Assist the shop in scheduling maintenance and repair of vehicles, coding invoices and record keeping.
- Be on-call for emergencies and weekends as needed; drive a bus as needed
- Work closely with Operations, Safety, Training and Fleet Maintenance departments.
- Maintain, manage, and update driver schedules on a daily basis, assist with payroll processing
- Review of onboard video and GPS monitoring.
- Computer proficient with software experience in mapping and routing. Microsoft Office with focus on Word and Excel. Assists in developing routes, busloads, bus stops and schedules.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements:
Experience and Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
At least 1-year experience in Customer Service position
Licensing
Valid CDL or ability and willingness to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES:
Minimum qualifications: High school diploma, clerical skills, strong computer skills. Valid commercial license with passenger endorsement and school bus certificate a plus.
- Familiarity with the laws, regulations and policies governing student transportation; ability to read a map, to coordinate and schedule bus routes in a logical manner; ability to deal tactfully and effectively with employees and our customers; good judgment, ability to make sound decisions; knowledge of computers, clerical aptitude; physical condition commensurate with duties. Familiar with the school district, school locations, general knowledge of the routes and stops, and field trip destinations.
