Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment is prepared and available.
- Provide basic care for animals, including feeding, bathing, and exercising.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care, reporting any concerns to the veterinary team.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels, exam rooms, and surgical areas.
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians and assist with animal catheterization when required.
- Utilize aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pets’ needs and treatment plans.
- Keep accurate records of patient information, treatments administered, and any observations made during care.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in pet care or veterinary settings is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and dental terminology is highly desirable.
- Skills in dog handling and training are a plus.
- Understanding of veterinary critical care practices is beneficial.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills to interact with pet owners compassionately and effectively.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of animal care and hygiene.
