Latitude Legal is seeking an experienced Telecom & Compliance Counsel to support a fast-growing AI-native customer service platform on a part-time, as-needed engagement basis (approximately 10 hours per week). This is a fully remote role open to licensed attorneys in any U.S. jurisdiction.
The company recently launched a native voice/phone channel integrated directly into its helpdesk platform, and is seeking specialized telecom counsel to work through a defined set of compliance, contractual, and privacy questions arising from that launch. This is not a broad in-house role, but a targeted, as-needed engagement for an attorney who knows the telecom and VoIP regulatory space and can hit the ground running on discrete, time-sensitive issues as they arise.
What You'll Do Includes:
-
Draft and review Terms & Conditions and Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) language for the new voice channel, including liability allocation and transfer provisions between the platform and its voice customers.
-
Advise on subprocessor integration from a privacy and contractual standpoint, including necessary updates to the company's privacy policy.
-
Analyze and advise on number portability obligations (e.g., what the company's responsibilities are, how to structure terms to manage liability).
-
Address GDPR and cross-border PII issues arising from call recordings, with particular attention to EU customer data flows and applicable consent and localization requirements.
-
Advise on TCPA and FCC compliance considerations for the voice product, including consent frameworks, recordkeeping, and carrier/platform-level obligations.
-
Provide practical, business-forward guidance to product, engineering, and legal stakeholders as telecom-related compliance questions arise on an ongoing basis.
Who You Are:
-
Attorney with 7+ years of substantive telecom, VoIP, or communications law experience, including familiarity with FCC regulation, TCPA, and carrier/platform compliance.
-
Working knowledge of GDPR and cross-border data privacy issues as they apply to call recordings and voice communications; CCPA familiarity a plus.
-
Experience advising on Terms & Conditions and Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) drafting for communications platforms, VoIP providers, or SaaS companies with telephony features.
-
Comfortable advising on number portability and the regulatory obligations that attach to companies offering phone channels.
-
Practical and commercially minded; able to quickly assess what issues are live, what needs to be documented, and what guidance will actually help the team move forward.
-
Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-moving environment with limited oversight.
-
Active bar admission in good standing in any U.S. jurisdiction; no specific state license required.
-
J.D. from an accredited law school.
-
Outstanding references.
