Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Doula to provide support to individuals during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. As a Doula, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that expectant parents feel informed, empowered, and cared for throughout their birthing experience. Your expertise in patient service and understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology will be essential in guiding clients through this transformative journey.
Duties
- Offer emotional and physical support to clients before, during, and after childbirth.
- Provide education on pregnancy, labor processes, and postpartum recovery.
- Assist clients in developing birth plans that align with their preferences and needs.
- Conduct patient assessments to understand individual circumstances and tailor support accordingly.
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to explain bodily changes during pregnancy and labor.
- Encourage relaxation techniques such as breathing exercises (inhale) to help manage pain and anxiety.
- Serve as an advocate for clients’ wishes in the healthcare setting.
- Maintain a calm presence during labor to help facilitate a positive birthing experience.
Skills
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to empathize and communicate effectively with clients.
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy related to childbirth processes.
- Proficient in patient assessment techniques to evaluate client needs accurately.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to pregnancy and childbirth.
- Understanding of physiology as it relates to labor and delivery.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while providing support in high-stress situations.
