Mary Queen of Peace Catholic School is seeking qualified and dependable Substitute Teachers to provide classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular teacher. Substitute Teachers play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning, fostering a positive classroom environment, and supporting the mission of Catholic education. The ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, strong classroom management skills, and a commitment to the academic, social, and spiritual development of students.
- Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
- Supervise students and manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies and expectations.
- Provide instruction and academic support to students across various grade levels and subject areas as assigned.
- Take attendance and maintain accurate classroom records.
- Communicate relevant information regarding student behavior, participation, and classroom activities to the regular teacher and school administration.
- Utilize classroom technology and instructional resources effectively.
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other assigned duties.
- Uphold the mission, philosophy, and values of Catholic education.
- Follow all school, Archdiocesan, and state policies regarding safety, confidentiality, and student welfare.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to effectively supervise and manage students in a classroom setting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow written lesson plans and school procedures.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the school day.
- Ability to supervise students in both classroom and outdoor settings.
- Ability to lift and carry classroom materials as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
- Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
- Previous teaching, substitute teaching, tutoring, childcare, or youth development experience.
- Familiarity with and support for the mission of Catholic education.
