Company Overview:
Tiello has partnered with a well-established Electrical Contractor on their search for a Construction Accounting Specialist to support the accounting operations. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting day-to-day accounting functions while helping modernize accounting processes across both organizations.
Role Summary:
The Construction Accounting Specialist will be responsible for supporting all aspects of construction accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, construction billing, pay applications, cash receipts, reporting, and project accounting. This individual will work closely with Project Managers and company leadership to ensure accurate project billing, timely collections, and efficient financial operations.
The ideal candidate has prior construction accounting experience, understands AIA billing and construction documentation, and enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:
Construction Billing & Project Accounting
- Coordinate with Project Managers to prepare monthly customer billings and Schedule of Values (SOVs)
- Prepare and submit AIA pay applications through GC Pay, Textura, customer portals, and email
- Process approved change orders by updating contract values, SOVs, and project billing
- Process retainage billings and final invoices upon project completion
- Compile and submit lien waivers and all required billing documentation
- Maintain accurate billing logs and project accounting records
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Process vendor invoices and maintain accurate vendor records
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Set up new vendors within QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise and NetSuite ERP
- Support timely vendor payments and AP reporting
Accounts Receivable & Cash Management
- Generate customer invoices and monitor outstanding receivables
- Deposit customer payments and accurately apply cash receipts
- Monitor Accounts Receivable Aging reports and assist with collection efforts
- Generate Accounts Payable Aging and Open Purchase Order reports
Systems & Financial Reporting
- Assist with sales tax reporting and general accounting support
- Set up new construction projects within the accounting system
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of NetSuite ERP
- Partner with accounting leadership to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy
Qualifications / Requirements:
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in construction accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or construction billing
- Experience using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles
- Experience with AIA billing, Schedule of Values (SOVs), retainage, change orders, and lien waivers
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with Project Managers and leadership
- Eligibility to work in the U.S.
