FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Reports to: VP of Clinical Operations
OVERVIEW:
The Physical Therapist plans, organizes and implements physical therapy services in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing the facility and as may be coordinated by the VP of Clinical Operations to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is delivered.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and consults with other specialists
- Designs and implements a plan of care for patients based on a thorough assessment of potential development and incorporates participation by significant others whenever appropriate
- Regularly updates documentation and maintains prescriptions and signatures
- Consulting with patients to learn about their physical condition
- Assessing and interpreting patient evaluations and test results
- Developing treatment plans using a variety of treatment techniques
- Creating personalized fitness-oriented health care programs for patients
- Administering medically prescribed physical therapy treatments to relieve pain and improve mobility
- Advising patients on exercise techniques
- Advising patients and their families about in-home treatment options
- Providing educational information about injury prevention, ergonomics and ways to promote physical health
- Consulting and collaborating with other healthcare professionals
- Assist in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited educational institution.
- Passed the National Physical Therapist Examination (NPTE)
- Completion of an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)-accredited residency program
- A valid license to practice physical therapy
- Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices
- Ability to solve problems independently
- Ability to write reports and correspondence at a professional level
- Ability to use a computer and software proficiently
- Drive to continually learn new treatment techniques
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position supervises Physical Therapy Assistants
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This job operates in a home care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations in and around the patients home.
- Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.
- Incumbent may be required to work extended periods of time at a video display terminal.
