Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Eye Care Clinic/Optical Front Desk Staff member, where your energy and dedication will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. In this vital role, you will manage patient check-ins, schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and ensure seamless communication between patients and clinical staff. Your proactive approach will contribute to a positive patient experience while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. This position offers an engaging environment for those passionate about healthcare administration and exceptional customer service.
For our twenty year history, our emphasis has been on providing exceptional quality care and products to our patients. Our patients and customers are loyal to us because they know that they can expect to be treated with excellence and love. We are looking for a new team member who cares for people as much as we do! Let us know if you would like to know more about our practice and see if it would be a good fit for you. Below is a list of the skills that you will need to be proficient in.
We are looking for a team member who exemplifies the following skills and characteristics:
-The primary starting position will be at the front desk. Our new team member must be able to perform basic computing skills, answer phone calls and set up appointments. A primary characteristic is to be a people person. When a patient arrives to check in for their eye exam, pick up their glasses or for some other matter, we want our new team member to engage with them and greet them with genuine enthusiasm. In addition, there are a lot of details when it comes to these tasks so attention to detail is very important.
-Answering phones: We are a small office but a busy office. We are looking for someone to be able to handle a variety of interactions over the phone from scheduling patient appointments, checking insurance benefits, calling about outstanding balances, calling patients to inform them that it is time for their upcoming appointments, etc. These days there are computer programs and even AI that can perform similar functions but that is not the route we’re going. We believe that our customers and patients have stayed loyal to us over the years because of the personal touch that they receive from us. Not just answering someone’s question, but doing it with grace and love.
-Basic computing skills: Experience in using electronic health records to process data is a helpful skill in performing daily tasks. Scanning documents, faxing records, faxing referrals, importing documents into a patient’s record, reviewing schedule requests, texting patients. Some of these tasks could be new tasks for the applicant, but there must be an openness and willingness to learn and master these tasks. Many of these tasks can be multi-step tasks and there must be a high level of persistence to ensure proper completion.
Billing and remittance: The cycle of this business is based on the daily interactions that we have with insurance providers. When a patient calls in to schedule an appointment, the top question they ask is whether or not we take their insurance. We must be able to quickly look into this and schedule their appointment. After we see the patient, we must be able to file a claim in a timely manner. After a claim has been paid, we must reconcile this in the ledger of the patient’s health record. Even if there is no specific experience, these are all tasks that can be easily taught but there must be a high level of being detail-oriented and seeing each task through to completion.
-Team player. It is important to be able to work well with other existing team members, as well as communicating with frame vendors and frequently with the lab. Again, it is a must to be a people person to be a good fit in this role.
-We love our team members. We work hard together each day and we really enjoy working together. It is satisfying to be a team and work toward a common goal. We look forward to hearing from you.
We are offering a competitive starting pay, as well as paid time off, with the opportunity to grow, if desired, into a role that even includes management opportunities.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Employee discount
- On-the-job training
