Position Summary
Drives and operates County recycling trucks with hydraulic system and manually collects recyclable materials from residential areas. As an essential employee, the Resource Driver is indispensable to the emergency service function of the division and is required to meet the operational needs.
Hours of operation: 7:00 am- 3:30 pm. Overtime if needed, 6 AM volunteer start.
Essential Functions
- Identifies, sorts, discards, asides, lifts, moves recyclable materials from curbside to truck.
- Climbs on and off trucks.
- Watch for oncoming traffic and obey motor vehicle traffic rules.
- Quality controls (visually inspects material to see if it qualifies as material to be recycled) to ensure that recyclable materials are identified, sorted, and placed in proper truck bins.
- Prepares and issues quality control reject tags after identifying rejected materials: circles appropriate reason for rejection.
- Lifts recycling buckets, places materials above shoulder height to truck bins. Lifts truck doors 3 feet to 5 feet, closes doors and latches.
- Maintains curbside pick-up of recyclables at various vehicle speeds to complete designated areas and maintain productivity levels.
- Monitors safety.
- Wear proper safety equipment, work attire, and other clothing such as rain gear, boots, safety vests, etc.
- Consistently arrives at worksite and is prepared to start work at the established starting time.
- Maintains various records.
- Reports malfunction of truck.
- Performs proper daily inspection of vehicles per CDL requirements.
- Performs Resource Recovery Worker outside duties as necessary.
- Must have the ability to properly move and hook dumpsters to trucks and operate all controls.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Recycling and the Assistant Director of Recycling.
Essential Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be in good physical condition with the ability to perform very heavy lifting
- Ability to read maps
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language sufficiently to perform the duties of this position
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions including, extreme heat and cold
- Must be reliable and possess a strong work ethic
- Valid New Jersey driver’s license
- Valid CDL B
Minimum of one year experience driving Class B vehicles

Salary: $49,000/year
