Duties
- Prepare and assemble meals in accordance with dietary requirements, safety guidelines, and nutritional standards.
- Serve food to residents with friendly, attentive customer service, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Assist with food handling, sanitation, cleaning, and bussing to maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
- Follow proper manual handling and safe lifting practices when moving heavy items or supplies.
- Adhere strictly to food safety protocols such as JCAHO standards, sanitation procedures, and PPE use to prevent contamination.
- Support the dietary department by managing time effectively to ensure timely meal delivery and preparation.
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of food production, meal preparation, and food safety regulations.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or in dietary departments is an asset.
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and perform manual handling tasks comfortably.
- Strong time management skills to coordinate meal schedules efficiently.
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment and adhering to dietary requirements for special diets.
- Basic math skills for portion control and inventory management; excellent customer service skills are essential.
- Certifications such as CPR or food handling licenses are advantageous; commitment to workplace safety is required.
