Our client, is seeking a senior-level Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex industrial and commercial projects. This role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership, guiding both project execution and team development. You’ll play a key role in shaping engineering standards while working across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead structural design and analysis for complex projects from concept through construction
- Review calculations, drawings, and deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and code compliance
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, QA/QC processes, and best practices
- Provide input on feasibility, constructability, and cost-efficient design approaches
- Collaborate with project stakeholders including designers, contractors, and project managers
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and designers
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE or equivalent) designation or eligibility
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 10+ years of Structural Engineering experience with 5+ years of experience in structural design, preferably in industrial or heavy commercial projects
- Strong knowledge of steel design and relevant building codes and standards
- Experience with structural analysis tools and drafting software (e.g., analysis programs, 2D CAD)
- Ability to review technical work, perform manual calculations, and guide project teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across disciplines
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with material handling or conveyor systems
- Familiarity with concrete design practices
- Eligibility for Canadian engineering licensure (e.g., British Columbia)
