Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Tax Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will play a vital role in shaping our tax strategies, supporting financial reporting, and maintaining regulatory adherence across multiple jurisdictions. Duties
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individual clients with precision and attention to detail.
- Conduct comprehensive tax research on issues such as estate planning, securities law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and corporate tax law to ensure compliance and optimize tax positions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies aligned with business objectives, including mergers & acquisitions and asset management activities.
- Support audits by providing detailed documentation, analysis, and explanations related to tax filings and financial statements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial report writing, interpretation of financial concepts, and ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Manage complex client communication regarding tax reporting requirements, regulatory compliance accounting, and technical accounting issues.
- Utilize advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, or specialized financial software to facilitate accurate bookkeeping, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
Experience
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate tax environment with a strong background in tax compliance, tax law, and technical accounting principles.
- Extensive knowledge of estate planning, wills, trusts & estate law, auditing practices, and regulatory compliance accounting.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, and double entry bookkeeping.
- Familiarity with securities law, private equity transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and financial services industry standards.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for strategic decision-making.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms; experience with financial report writing and interpretation is highly desirable.
- Excellent client communication skills coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications or experience in public accounting or corporate finance are preferred; ongoing professional development in tax reporting or regulatory compliance is advantageous.
