JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides basic nursing care and performs a variety of procedures, exams and tests. Assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment and promotes positive customer relations.
Assists in the preparation of the Operating Room prior to surgical procedures. Cleans and maintains operating room and perioperative areas. Ensures adequate inventory of supplies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Graduate of high school or GED.
- Minimum of 1-year hospital or ASC experience or certification with hands-on clinical training or current nursing student.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support required.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Good communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of medical safety and infection control practices.
- Able to take vital signs and document appropriately.
- Excellent interpersonal skills – must be able to work independently and as a team member.
- Computer literate preferred (Medical Practice Management Software).
- Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Require high level of visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care activities.
- Ability to move quickly in response to physician, nurse, and patient needs.
- Ability to stand for long periods, occasionally overhead and low reaching.
- Occasionally exert force up to 50 lbs., frequently up to 20 lbs., and constantly up to 10 lbs.
- Patient care activities may require the ability to exert force up to 30 lbs. constantly, up to 40 lbs. occasionally, and up to 100 lbs. rarely.

8. Performs specified functions to meet the needs of the PACU or laser procedure room.
- Assist with stocking of supplies.
- Assist with the transfer of the patient to PACU.
- Takes and records vital signs.
- Obtain blood sugars. (Must know how to run daily controls of low, high and normal)
- Provide nourishment of patients if indicated.
- Assist with the delivery of oxygen if needed.
- Discontinue IV and/or prn adaptors.
- Assist with patient ambulation and transfer to wheelchair (if applicable for wheelchair).
- Escort patients to their car.
- Communicates and documents all pertinent data.
- Change sharp boxes if needed.
- Decontaminate supplies (BP cuff, chairs, glucometer, IV pole, monitor cables, EKG cables, table tops) as per policy.

9. Assists staff in preparation of operating room prior to surgery.

- Performs housekeeping / environmental functions, including but not limited to, decontamination of OR, cleaning, emptying trash and linen according to policies and infection control practices.
- Transports patients to and from OR.
- Assists in storing and stocking supplies as directed.
- Obtains and transports equipment and supplies to room as required.

JOB SUMMARY: Admits all patients and coordinates reception area activities to promote communication throughout the Center.
Admits all patients as per policy and performs clerical and reception duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school education or its equivalent required.
2. 2 years clerical experience preferred.
3. Medical clerical experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Excellent verbal communication skills.
2. Strong organizational skills, detailed oriented.
3. Good follow-up skills.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills – must be able to work independently and as a team member.
5. Computer literate (Microsoft – Word, Excel – preferred, Patient Database Software).

7. Accurately enter all patient demographics into Center database. a. Upon receipt of the patient’s booking sheet from the scheduling coordinator, all patient demographics are to be accurately entered into the computer.
8. Admits patients to the Center following the established policies and procedures. a. Obtain information needed to register patient; attaches patient identity to documentation. i. Check accuracy of insurance, demographic information, and procedure to be done. ii. Reviews forms for patient signature; obtains forms or signatures as needed. iii. Apply identification bracelet to patient. iv. Provide Health Care Proxy as needed. b. Collect all co-payments or other fees and provide patient with a receipt for ALL payments. i. All cash and checks are to be immediately placed in the lock box. c. Assembles patient medical record forms; once complete brings the medical record to the pre-op nurse. d. Provides information to the patient’s family in the waiting area according to Center policy. e. Monitors the reception and waiting areas.
9. Coordinates reception area activities for effective communication throughout the Center. a. Answers telephone and intercom quietly and courteously. i. Directs telephone calls to the appropriate staff. ii. Take messages for all staff including physicians. b. Receives and relays messages effectively and efficiently. c. Notify physician’s office and patients of any change (delays, etc.) in daily OR schedule. d. By 11:00AM of each day, types and distributes (to the appropriate staff) the OR schedule for the next business day. e. Maintains and protects each patient’s right to confidentiality. f. Identifies emergencies and initiates response according to Center policy.
10. Assumes clerical duties and responsibilities as necessary.
A) Assists in ordering and stocking clerical supplies. B) Assists in maintaining cost-effectiveness by preventing waste of supplies. C) Maintains order and cleanliness of the front desk. D) Performs interdepartmental errands as needed.
E) Places diagnostic test reports and operative notes in the appropriate section of the patient medical record. F) Assures that all medical records are complete with appropriate forms and signatures. G) Accurately files medical records in medical records room. H) Assist with preparation and maintenance of Center records and reports.
