Forklift Operator
Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Forklift Operator to move, load, unload, and stage heavy parts and materials throughout a manufacturing or industrial facility. This position requires experience operating forklifts around large, heavy, and sometimes oversized components while maintaining a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to transport heavy parts and materials.
- Load and unload trucks, trailers, racks, and designated storage areas.
- Move heavy components throughout the facility and position materials at the appropriate workstations.
- Secure and properly balance heavy or oversized loads before transporting them.
- Inspect loads, pallets, racks, and equipment before handling materials.
- Follow designated travel routes and maintain awareness of pedestrians, equipment, and other workplace hazards.
- Verify part numbers, quantities, and material locations when moving inventory.
- Assist with staging materials for production and shipping operations.
- Keep work areas, aisles, and loading areas organized and free of debris.
- Perform routine forklift inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
- Use proper lifting, rigging, and load-handling techniques when required.
- Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with production, warehouse, shipping, and supervisory personnel.
- Perform other material-handling duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous forklift experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, construction, or industrial environment preferred.
- Experience moving heavy parts, machinery, steel, or oversized materials is highly preferred.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift while carrying heavy or irregularly shaped loads.
- Strong understanding of load capacity, stability, and safe operating practices.
- Ability to read part numbers, labels, and basic work instructions.
- Good attention to detail and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with a team.
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as needed.
- Ability to sit and operate a forklift for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently enter and exit forklift equipment.
- Ability to work around heavy machinery, moving equipment, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, and other protective equipment.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced forklift operator who takes pride in working safely and efficiently. Experience handling heavy industrial parts and materials is a major plus. Candidates should be reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working around large equipment and heavy loads.
Pay: From $20.50 per hour
