Kids Academy of Learning & Excellence (KALE), powered by the CORE Foundation, delivers high-quality, compassionate childcare to families across the Greater Richmond area. Through KALE@Home, we place qualified, vetted childcare professionals in private homes to provide structured, dependable, and developmentally appropriate care. KALE@Home is a non-licensed in-home care service. However, our internal standards meet or exceed Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) requirements for center-based childcare staff.
Position Overview
KALE@Home Childcare Providers deliver safe, nurturing, and engaging care for children from birth through age 12 within family homes. All providers are W-2 employees and must independently meet all required VDOE training, certification, and background standards prior to hire. This role requires professionalism, discretion, reliability, and the ability to adapt to family-specific routines and care plans.
What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision and high-quality care for children birth–12 years in private homes

Implement age-appropriate activities that support learning, development, and well-being
-
Establish positive, professional relationships with children and families
-
Follow family-directed care plans, routines, feeding instructions, and medical or special care protocols

Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful home environment; proactively identify and mitigate safety risks
-
Communicate clearly and professionally with families and KALE management
-
Accurately document incidents, concerns, or significant observations
-
Follow all emergency procedures, safety protocols, and mandated reporter obligations
-
Maintain availability for varied assignments, including:

Full-time or part-time care
-
Evening, overnight, and weekend shifts
-
Respite and date-night care
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
-
At least 18 years of age
-
High school diploma or GED required
-
Prior experience caring for children birth–12 years in a professional or volunteer setting
-
Current VDOE-recognized childcare staff certifications, obtained independently prior to hire

Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification, obtained independently prior to hire

Completion of all VDOE-mandated trainings, including but not limited to:

Safe Sleep and SIDS Prevention

Mandated Reporter Training

Emergency Preparedness
-
Successful completion of all required VDOE background checks and child protective services clearances

Strong professionalism, punctuality, reliability, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience caring for infants under 6 weeks

Experience with multiple children or children with special needs

Bilingual or multilingual proficiency

Trauma-informed care experience (particularly for foster or respite assignments)
