JOB OPENINGS: 1-2 F/T STAFF WANTED
BI-LINGUAL; ENGLISH/SPANISH PREFERRED
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Aide/Instruct adults with developmental disabilities in a variety of community settings, up to and including some instruction/assistance in adult/college classroom settings. Schedule and hours worked are based on the classes/needs/goals of each client per their ISP/IPP and the amount of hours given to our program for those clients. 1-year experience preferred, but not necessary. Prior completion of college level courses for applicants is preferred.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS (MUST):
- Be able to take notes in class and assist with homework/studying lecture notes
- Be able to access generic resources on campus
- Communicate effectively, particularly via phone and email
- Be patient and enjoy helping/teaching people to learn at home and in a classroom setting
- Have reliable access to email (mobile internet connection) and cell phone during work hours, assigned schedule
- CPI Training/Certification a plus
- Be flexible and comfortable with managing last-minute schedule changes
- Be able to safely & effectively navigate/advocate in a variety of community environments in/outdoors with respect to physicality involved & per education of client (such as with use of buses, community colleges, libraries, job sites, social security office, medical offices, similar venues)
- Be available to work weekends (one SAT or SUN at minimum, if necessary, 2x per month)
- Be comfortable and willing to provide certain levels of personal care for clients, including help with daily grooming, showering, changing and toileting if necessary
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times with clientele (consumer, parents, conservator, Supervisors and peer staff)
- Possess a working computer or have access to one
- Complete daily progress notes, assist with completion/acquiring of other data as nec (Medical, SIR, other)
- Enjoy working on the move, from the community (we are primarily a mobile office)
- Be ready to fill-in if a fellow program staff is out
- Submit to and pass a background check if necessary
- Have reliable, insured/registered auto & ability to transport program materials and clients if necessary
- Possess a good driving record
- Once trained, possess ability to work independently, maintain a "big picture" perspective & self-monitor per client/program support needs. (In other words, work alone, think ahead, be prepared for the next task at hand -- including maintaining all necessary resources, materials and supplies, or communicating w/your Supervisor in this regard as need develops)

We are a skill development program providing (1:1) Independent Living Services, related support, to individuals ages 18 and up, with mild to moderate life-skill challenges, in areas such as education, home search & maintenance, grooming & hygiene, money management, communication, meal preparation, work & mobility, among others, with a focus on development of skills that are culled from goals, needs and unique strengths that are "person-centered" fostering independence, integrity and opportunity.
Encompassing a broad-range of services for our consumers, our program is geared to enable individuals to overcome a variety of barriers, focusing on their strengths and unique personal choices, within home and community environments where they may not otherwise have the opportunity.
