Assistant Director – Childcare Center

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 40 Hours per Week
Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour
Legacy Learners Academy is seeking a dependable, experienced, and hands-on Assistant Director to join our leadership team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with children and staff while also taking an active role in the daily operations of a growing childcare center.
This is not a desk-only leadership position. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, communicates well, can step in where needed, and is ready to help maintain a safe, organized, nurturing, and high-quality environment.
What You'll Do
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the childcare center
- Support, guide, and hold teaching staff accountable to center expectations
- Assist with staff scheduling, onboarding, training, and classroom observations
- Help maintain DSS licensing and center compliance requirements
- Support parent communication, tours, enrollment, and daily administrative needs
- Step into classrooms when additional leadership or coverage is needed
- Assist with maintaining an organized, professional, and welcoming center environment
- Prepare and serve daily meals and snacks during our current growth phase
- Support CACFP food program requirements, including meal documentation, inventory, food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization
As our enrollment and team continue to grow, the position is expected to transition toward increased administrative and leadership responsibilities.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working in a licensed childcare setting
- Childcare leadership, Lead Teacher, Assistant Director, or Director experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of South Carolina childcare licensing requirements preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Dependable, professional, and able to take initiative without constant direction
- Comfortable providing staff guidance and accountability
- Comfortable preparing meals for children and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen
- Able to manage multiple responsibilities and adjust when center needs change
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- Must meet all DSS requirements for employment in a licensed childcare facility
