JOB
Essential Job Functions: Supervises, operates backhoe and participates with work crews in the maintenance, repair and installation of water and sewer lines, connections, mains, water meters, sump pumps, manholes, fire hydrants, and lift stations; receives job assignments from general foreman and plans work schedules for crew; inspects sewer lines and manholes; may operate T.V. monitor inspection equipment including truck, T.V. camera, monitor and recording equipment; operates machinery, equipment, drives light and heavy duty vehicles, mini excavator, vacuum truck, fork lift, front end loader, power saw, winch, fusion machine, pipe bursting equipment and pole lifting truck; raises and lowers meter; directs and participates in the activities of rod truck and jet truck crews in clearing stoppages; distributes tools, equipment and supplies as needed; maintains necessary inventory of equipment and material on trucks, enforces safety regulations; prepares various reports and records of activities, hours worked, materials used, accidents and customer complaints.
Other Job Functions: Maintains right-of-ways and easements; cross-trains with other divisions; inspects and conducts maintenance activities at lift stations and water towers; performs other duties as required. The Crew Leader may be required to operate equipment for his/her crew.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position requires 100% on-site work. Works inside and outside in all kinds of weather; operates equipment; could work in high traffic areas or around utilities construction areas; exposed to constant/extreme noise; works in trenches/ditches/manholes, and works around mechanical, electrical, explosive, fume/odor, dust and vapor hazards; Must be available to work Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and overtime when necessary; may work varying schedules; subject to call out 24 hours a day.

This position requires 100% on-site work. Must possess a valid Class A/CDL driver’s license with a good driving record. Other state valid Class A/CDL driver’s license with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires that within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver’s license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
