Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough eye examinations, including visual acuity testing, refraction assessments, and ocular health evaluations
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and pediatric ocular issues
- Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or recommend surgical interventions as appropriate
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options, ensuring clear understanding of medical terminology and procedures
- Follow strict aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures to ensure patient safety and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans and referrals when necessary
- Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology and optometry through ongoing education and training in physiology, anatomy, and medical coding
Experience
- Proven experience in ophthalmology or optometry practice with a strong background in ocular health management
- Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures, optical experience, and pediatric eye care is highly desirable
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation and medical records management
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to eye health and anatomy
- Demonstrated commitment to patient care excellence with excellent communication skills and customer service orientation
- Experience with medical coding related to ophthalmic diagnoses and treatments is a plus
- Ability to work effectively within a team while maintaining attention to detail in clinical assessments

Hecker Eye Care Associates in Greensboro, NC, is seeking a full or part time Optometrist. Part-time would have the potential to advance to full time, if desired. We are a comprehensive ophthalmology practice. Our team consists of 2 Comprehensive Ophthalmologists. Due to our steady growth, we are searching for an Optometrist to join our practice. We offer a family-like practice environment with a strong focus on excellent patient care. A strong support staff of outstanding technicians and front desk members are present to assist the doctors in all aspects of patient care.
Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience. Well suited candidates for this position should have an interest in a patient base with an emphasis on new patients, pathology and annual eye exams.
Our EMR system is NexTech IntelleChartPro. Our facility is large, which provides a nice working environment for our doctors and staff.
