Join our dynamic team as a Light and Display Crew Supervisor! The Light & Display Crew Supervisor is responsible for the construction, installation, maintenance, and removal of holiday displays and seasonal décor for the Christmas Market and other assigned events, as applicable. This role ensures display elements are built, installed, and maintained safely, efficiently, and to specification across designated event areas.
This is a hands-on leadership position that combines light construction, technical skill, and field supervision. The Light & Display Crew Supervisor leads a small year-round crew and oversees a larger temporary seasonal labor team during peak event periods. The position includes year-round responsibilities related to display preparation, site improvements, and maintenance, with increased staffing and activity during the event season. This role is accountable for on-site execution, safety, quality control, and problem-solving throughout installation, event operations, and teardown.
Essential Functions:
- Construct, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain holiday displays, lighting, décor, and scenic elements in alignment with approved designs at indoor and outdoor event locations.
- Perform light construction, carpentry, painting, electrical setup, and repairs required for display installation, modification, and ongoing operation.
- Support event-specific site improvements within designated event areas, including pathways, pavers, retaining features, and other functional or decorative structures to ensure safe guest flow and presentation.
- Lead and supervise a small year-round crew and a larger temporary seasonal labor team, providing hands-on direction, training, and oversight.
- Direct day-to-day on-site work during installation, event operations, and teardown, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to standard.
- Inspect displays and site conditions regularly, troubleshooting and resolving issues to maintain safety, functionality, and visual quality throughout the event season.
- Enforce safety protocols and safe work practices across all phases of construction, installation, and event operations.
- Oversee the organized teardown, removal, and staging of displays, décor, equipment, and materials at the end of the event season.
- Maintain clean, safe, and orderly event areas by addressing debris, hazards, and site conditions as they arise

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical, vocational, or trade-related training is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in construction, scenic fabrication, event production, display installation, or a related hands-on field.
- Experience constructing, assembling, modifying, and installing temporary structures, displays, or scenic elements.
- Working knowledge of tools and equipment commonly used in construction and display installation, including power tools and basic electrical components.
- Experience operating or working around forklifts, aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and similar equipment; certification preferred or ability to obtain certification required.
- Ability to safely work at heights, on ladders, and on uneven or outdoor terrain.
- Prior experience leading or supervising crews, including seasonal or temporary labor teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing site conditions and timelines.
- Knowledge of and commitment to safe work practices in construction, electrical, and outdoor environments.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide clear direction to a diverse workforce.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a strong plus and beneficial when leading a seasonal labor team.
